This is a black-and-white linocut that is in an 8-bit pattern with a patterned  background. It almost has a patchwork style as well. This was made by drawing the pattern onto paper, then transferring it to a cork board, then cutting out the white/brown areas, then coating the surface with ink, and pushing it through a printing press. The inspiration for the style came from the old NES game, Super Mario Bros 3. I used to play with my dad when I was little. I also love to do pixel artwork in my free time. The image of myself was inspired by three separate things- Dia de los Muertos, Showtime Pal (from Davenport Junior Theatre), and a rather large pair of sunglasses. My hope was that I could convey important aspects of my life in a unique fashion, and I think I achieved that. There are a few things that I would fix, and if I could add color, I would. Overall, I think this was a very successful project, and I am very satisfied with it.
